Gotta get your winks in too! Back many years ago I worked until 1 am, got up at 4 am and hunted til 11 am, back at work at 3pm. A couple in a row, game over!

Same story here. I work 2nd shift, and normally go to bed around 2am. So getting up at 4:30 has been killing me. I have finally burned out, emptyhanded so far. The IN season closes on Mothers Day, so I only got a couple hunts left.

I am 70 and have been out every morning since 3-25 when season opened unless it was pouring rain. Season closes 5-15 here. I get up at 4:30 EST every morning. Taking a break at 54?????

After a little reading about turkey habits.
A few suggest that though turkey hunting is good in the early am.
Prime time for calling in Toms is midday . They most likely have had a chance to check out their ladies . Still being in a loving mood, are more likely to investigate a call.
So sleep in a few mornings and try it out!

The turkeys have got the best of me so far this season. I go out and sit in the blind for hours, as soon as I leave for coffee they start gobbling. Sat all day the day before yesterday, told the wife "let's take a walk". Got 100ft from house turkey gobbles in bushes 50yds to my left. If I try calling I see nothing. In the past I have killed turkeys by leaving my calls at home. Going to try that for a couple days. Just took two afternoons off to cut firewood. Going out this afternoon gonna stay quiet and see what happens.
I just want to say I am not complaining one bit. If I could change just one thing I would leave everything just the way it is. This season is a lot like my previous spring turkey experiences and I enjoy every bit of it after being cooped up in the house all winter.
Hoping everyone is enjoying spring as much as I am.
Take care,
Hatchet

Weather in the morning will be -3 and cold! I don't want any part of that in May so I'll go when it warms up a bit!!! Lol
