Well I was excited to hear about the new vortex crossbow scope but a 100yard reticle is about as useless as it gets for hunting with a crossbow. I understand they need to cover the target shooting crowd but come on already.
I couldn't agree more, I was really hoping for a small hunting retical.

My thoughts as well. Why in the heck would you setup with 40yds as your "typical" shot. I do like the Crossfire II red dot I have on my AR though. Nice glass and the dot is only 1.5MOA instead of the typical 4 or 5. Aim small miss small.

Better practice a lot with that reticle, very confusing at crunch time on a big rutting buck. Just saying. I went with Leupold 1.5 x 5, zeroed at 25, 1.5 high at 20, 2.5 low at 30, 6” low at 35, 12 inches low at 40. Never leave the chest. Just my way to simplify things when under pressure.

To accommodate for the ever increasing crossbow speeds, scope manufactures have discovered that when they move the "zero" reticle to 40yds and then dial in the speed dial in at 20yds or 60yds it becomes much more linear and accurate across the other yardages, I have experimenting an XB30 compact and sighted it in as stated and I have to say it works much better than the "normal way" of setting the speed dial. My 2 cents

Well I have decided to buy one and see it with my own eyes.

Worst case I'll send it to a new owner. Lol

One great thing is the Vortex scopes have the VIP warranty. They will fix it or replace it no matter how it happened. He'll you can run it over with a Semi on highway 11 outside of Temagami and they will send you a new one!!!

Fully agree with your statement. The reticle is way too busy in my opinion let's see what the masses say once it is out there and been tested for a while.

Well for most of you hunters who get those easy shots at 20 and 30.

Look at it this way , since both aline above the middle of scope. Axes. It Should be easier to put them on a clear view of the target

On the other hand...

I simply will not mount any scope on my bow that is not 100 yard capable.
And I shoot a LOT out to that distance on targets throughout the year.

If I shoot that far, (seldom) I don’t want to do it with 2x-3x scope. That’s Close to the range it will be in When zeroed for a bow. The reticle having the 20 and 30 above center and 40 being the middle seems odd, but a way to shift things to accomplish a 100 aiming point.
I am I guess about scope queer, have had literally dozens on my bows since I bought my first Exomax. I don’t think any one scope is capable of all anyone could want to do with a crossbow. Be small and light, illuminated,?,aiming points to 100, zoom on power ring where you can shoot at distance with a higher power, all in one package. Lord knows I have been looking for one for a while!😁.
I am sure curious to hear the reviews though. Vortex stuff is nice stuff.
