Broadhead rabbit hole

Post by Ankh »

Harvested 2 deer with 150g boltcutter, both double lunged, both close to 0 blood trail. Switched to swhacker 150g have harvested 3 deer , all fell within 30 yards. Now the excal trailblazer 150/innerloc has caught my attention due to 3 blade/no band design. My question is should I stick to what has been very effective or roll the dice on the trailblazer. Give it to me straight, I wont melt. And thank you in advance for your input.

I am waiting to try them out. They were impressive at the ATA. Innerloc told me that they did all of their testing on an Excalibur 440 to make sure it'll stay closed on launch.

But ya, Norm's right haha.

It's certainly a rabbithole

No rabbit hole, swhacker has a sub-par entry hole which leads to difficult tracking if you don't get a pass thru, trailblazer cuts a 3 blade 2" hole on entry and exit with .040" thick blades. :eusa-think:

my only experience is with 1.75 swacker, beautiful heart shot, complete pass thru, I'm sur the others will prove worthy, some blood trails are easier than others. I've seen good shotgun slug shots not very easy to trail by blood. dbl lung or heart, their gonna die, soon!

Forgot to mention my main concern is the blood trail. As I am color blind and have trouble spotting blood, so the more the better.

Look at the US MADE SWAT 4 blade mechanicals. Every blood trail I have experienced using them was truly exceptional.

I have dome everything with the Swat A4-Mini heads except shoot a deer, very impressed with them though, and bought more based on construction, accuracy, and customer service, support! The blades open without fail, and not prematurely, in my testing, and do the NASTY to my target! I know this head for the speed I'm usually hunting with is the best combination!

The regular xact cut has worked flawlessly for me I'm looking forward to trying the wider version.
I too have experienced poor penetration with the shwacker but have still recovered all of the 3 i shot with a decent blood trail .
