Vortex crossfire II crossbow scope initial impressions

Post by Carnivorous »

Here are my initial impressions on the new offering from Vortex.

Packaging is outstanding! Packing reflects a high end scope purchase!
Comes with some nice extras. Lens cloth. Flip up covers. Neoprene scope cover. And scope rings.

Mounted on my DS 400. Scope rings in the kit were too high for my noggin so I used some med rings I already had.

Windage and elevation knobs are crisp.

Battery installed for the illumination. And will try it out this evening.

Reticle!
I had it in my head before looking down the tube that I wouldn't like it. Boy was I wrong!! Love it!! I will have no issues hunting at 20 yards with it! Lol

Eye relief is excellent. I had to bring it in closer to my face than my VXR but no big issue.

Glass is super clear and the reticle is crisp and not distorted for my not so great right eye.

So far this scope is a quality product. I think Vortex did a great job with this scope and will sell a pile of them at this price point.

Range day is tomorrow and I hope it performs as good as it looks!!! Lol

Will be watching this as it goes along.
My Partner lucked into a basically new Matrix 380.
Of course he wants to upgrade the scope, and is considering this one or the Tact 100.
I have shot the latter and found it to be fine.
Interested to know your thoughts on the Vortex...

Cheers,
Nog

Nope manual on off.

My plan is to hit the farm this evening with this scope. Looking through the scope in the back yard is not the same as actually sighting in my bow with it!! Lol

I never remember to turn of the illumination. I eventually went with a non-illuminated scope because that what I have essentially when the battery goes dead.
I wish there was a discreet light on the outside to remind me. Could call it an "idiot" light.

Jeff, what are your thoughts on the scope now that you've done some shooting?

So far its been excellent. Tried it in the backyard at 20 yards only. As soon as it cools down ill stretch it out at the farm. No shade at the farm.... lol

I know it will be on my bow for the coming deer season.

Now what to do with my vxr???
