During my lengthy corona virus lock-down I took the opportunity to refurbish an old jon boat and trailer my dad gave me and completed it with a DIY camo job. The boat is a 39 year old DuraCraft 1436 that is about as light as they come that my dad picked up cheap with an mid-1960s 6hp worn out motor. I watched craigslist for over a year and finally found a gem of a motor for it. I picked up a 1992 Evinrude 15hp that seriously had no more than 10 hours on it. It was garage kept both both prior owners and the person I bought it from had owned it for about a decade and never used it. When equipped with the right stainless prop, it'll push the old Duracraft down the Shenandoah at more than 32mph.

The boat and trailer were a mess when I started. Along with an obvious cleaning, the boat transom was showing its age. Someone had put heavy iron supports in place to mitigate the age, but they were way heavier than necessary. I rebuilt the transom and put in some lighter braces. Then spent almost two weeks prepping it for paint. The trailer got a similar treatment. It was a bare metal axle-less frame on jack stands before I started painting and reassembly.
Here are some before and after photos...
I didn't have much in the whole rig prior to beginning the project. Now its priceless to me.
Liking how the camo turned out so much, I decided to apply it to a new ladder stand before I took it to the woods last week.
My last two DIY camo jobs have turned out good. Does anyone have any DIY camo jobs they'd like to show? I'd especially be interested in seeing any on a crossbow.
