Axe project finished

Post by Hatchet »

I tried to hydrodip my Axe twice. I could not get it perfect so I found a hydrodipper here in Maine to do it for me. Sent with a note that I wanted a light colored wood with high gloss clear. Got it back today after 10 days. I am very impressed with the finished project. I put on a set of flat black limbs I have been saving just for this project. I am very happy with it.
What do you guys think?

I have to give credit to Wyverns Creations for the idea, they offer a Micro dipped just like this. I saw it a while ago and really liked the look of it. Also have to thank my lovely wife and children who paid for this as a Father's Day gift. As far as durability I have already worn some off in the cocking groove but I expected that. Its basically a paint job with clearcoat. I got a nice case to put it in to protect the finish. I plan to use this Axe when I hunt up back from a blind or shooting house. For my rougher hunts I plan to use Axe#2 with its bulletproof factory camo finish. I will post more pics later today. Take care,

Dave at Wyvern does good work, he recently Hydro Dipped a stock for me in STRATA CAMO then added 2 clear coats of a soft touch rubberized finish which will resit chipping and rope wear in the cocking groove. This finish is warmer to the touch and non slip.

Oh ya very cool! That turned out really nice.
I haven't played with hydrodip at all. Those limbs would look awesome done to match.
