range finder
I've had a couple but want another. Main problem is finding distance to a deer or a tree. So many times it just will not work.
At present I have a Nikon aculon. I like it until I try to range some things and get no readout.
Suggestions?

Re: range finder
For deer hunting I use Bushnell and I gave away two, this is my third and every one of them worked great!

Re: range finder
....I have a Leupold DNA rangefinder:
LEUPOLD RX-1600i TBR DNA RANGEFINDER....
.....I have had this for 6+ years. Same battery....just works all of the time....a little pricey (Currently $399.99) but I bought it on sale and am glad I got it when I did!
It also provides degree of elevation...acquired target quickly....bright LED readout....provides a correct readout when used along side my BIL’s which would not give him a readout at all.

Re: range finder
So it sounds like nobody else has a problem like this. Seems strange. But it is frustrating having a bick come from different direction; try to get a reading for yardage and won't read. Move to a tree and same thing. THat's when one goes back to estimating so why even take a range finder?
I've had this problem at various yards if hunting with bow or rifle. I like Leopold so maybe that is what I should get.
Thanks guys. I haven't given up hope yet.

I have a Halo XL450 never had any problems and quite accurate. I can’t speak for others who owns one but I’m happy with mine.

Older model Leica LRF 800. Boxy, larger than new model, need two hands....but it is SPOT ON !!! if you watch ebay, you can pick them up pretty cheap as well.

Re: range finder
Nikon Prostaff 550 laser. Had it for years. Haven't ever changed the battery. Works great!!

Re: range finder
My Bushnell something or other model has done that to me before. Under two conditions I have been able to identify. Easiest one was last fall, the battery was low but not dead. Changed the battery and it's fixed.B-Logger wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 3:43 pmSo it sounds like nobody else has a problem like this. Seems strange. Second is in foggy or early morning conditions when the dew is evaporating fast, spring Turkey season. The water droplets in the air refract the laser and the beam doesn't return giving you a dead readout.

I still use my OLD Simmons 600 RF that I purchased back in the dark ages. Works as well today as it did when new.
