Make your butane canisters refillable! Can't take credit for finding this, but I've made a few canisters already with good results
Simple drill an 11/64 hole straight in the bottom and thread in, using epoxy to seal the threads, a type B refill valve. There is a stainless ball bearing in there that you have to remove or shake out.

Easily refillable. Only downside is the butane is often not as high quality when found on the hardware shelf, but very usable and cheap to refill
Funny you brought this up as I was just watching it on YouTube. I watched a guy do it using nocking pliers and not drill anything. Great idea eitherway. I have a couple different thermacells with the butane bottles and wafers but have since gone to the Thermacell Radius 2.0 with the 40 hour repellant and usb charging...love it.

....I have a bunch of canisters where I have pulled the pin which precludes the refilling....that part of it went smoothly....the problem that i have is that it is hit and miss with the butane refilling....the nozzels that come with the can somestimes works and sometimes not.....
.....i am interested in exactly the brand/nozzle so that I don't have to spend hours trying to get this to work..

I have done this. You pull out the check valve and then re-insert the regular valve. Then you can refill. But as Anthony says, sometimes the refill nozzels are too big. I simply ground mine down a bit with a dremel or on a file. Just taper them down until it works.
I refill all my canisters. Have for a few years now and all seems fine.

....hmmm?.....Kieth you sound like an Engineer....oh wait, you are! you are talking to a lowly accountant. I will discuss with my mechanic son who seems to get everything to work. Do you have a brand of butane that comes with caps?.....I have bought three and have had issues with all three.
