I'm sure glad they made the register to post a necessity, sure cleaned up the place where you can enjoy reading the posts now. Sure, there are still a few people who will hide behind some fabricated name, but then the name really means little, doesen't it? After all, few of us really know each other personally, but we can quickly identify troublemakers and ignore them. And even a guest can act like a decent person!

I don't understand why some of you feel this is a bad idea. No one is trying to control the forum. Was GaryL trying to control the forum when he started pushing for members only? I'm sure the idea of a members only forum was raised long before I joined and serveral times since. But nothing was done until we had a real problem on our hands. Why wait? Whats wrong with people being accountable for what they post? Or is this a problem with Carl and therefore a problem with the idea.

Hi Folks
Long-time forum lurker, just don't post too often because I don't feel I have alot of usefull info to post, although hopefully this will change with the turkey season opener.
I have got to admit that I do find the odd troll-post fairly entertaining after a night of pops being slurped, as long as they aren't personal attacks on forum members.
Seeing what I believe are antis posting on this forum lets us know they are sitting inside on their computers, not protecting their vegetable gardens, thus letting the deer having a feeding frenzy to bulk up for us next season! lol
Thanks, John

I'm all for a members only forum. The fact is, many folks, know much more about computers, than this almost dangerous computer literate middle aged, bowhunter. They may have the technology to hide. I have never thought about hiding behind another name. For what reason? That's just me. If it smells like $hit, it usually is. I think that is plain and simple. I also think the members here are smart enough to tell. It's not like you can reach through, and choke the life out of a person on here, you just may tick them off a little. How old are we? Hell, I like to argue, makes the world go round. I argue with someone every day. If everyone who ever thought they were right, really were, we'd be walking around behind someone else, like sheep(I may be wrong but I doubt it). I have gotten some great advice here. And then, I've gotten a couple of smarta$$ remarks also. But through it all, who really cares about a comment here and there. Someone writes something, and someone else, doesn't like it, they must be using a fake name, on the same address? So what. Ignore it. Don't reply. Move on. It's all about control with some. They want it, but do not want anyone else to have it. If they had to register all the things they like to do, or their agenda with the government, how much crying would "they" do. When does control end. Maybe everyone should pay $1000 bucks a year to belong to this forum, and when there is one member logging on, and one member on the forum, and one member by them self, paying dues, perhaps there will be happiness. Or we could send each other our home addresses, so if you really had a beef, you could just fly right in and kick some butt. I think this is a great forum, but lets not make it like some of the others, and make it more complicated than it needs to be. I agree with guest.

at the risk of being called a troll (the anti xbow guys call me far worse :D -I think "a cancer" is the current phrase for bashing their braindead nonsense) what exactly is the problem that needs a fixin uncle carl?

No Jim you're not one of the usual suspects. I find you quite hubristic at times, but not troll like.

You're a smart fella, I'm sure you can see what problems develope when members with multiple personality disorders are allowed to run rampant.

Troll

A troll is a mythical creature. I really enjoy reading about what the forum was set up for(crossbos hunting) than this stale topic. Sure would like some comments on good shed traps.
