It's great anytime you hear of our sport growing and opportunities increasing. Its means more people will get "out there" and hopefully enjoy it so much that they get hooked and just maybe become a lifelong hunter.

I live in Missouri but have never seen a bear in this state. They have been sighted a couple of miles from my house, but not by me. Most of the bears live south of the Missouri river and I do nearly all of my hunting north of there. They seem to have become quite common in certain areas and I'm glad. Congratulations to the Missouri Dept. of Conservation on their successful efforts to re-establish the black bears.

but I have never seen one myself, but they have been quite a few seen within a 20 mile area from me.
so I guess they are around. hope to see one before my time that I can't hunt anymore.

Congratulations to the Missouri Department of Conservation!!
Folks don't realize how much work goes into a program to re-introduce a species.
Here in East Texas, back in the late 60's and early 70's, a couple of counties here in ET had a Black Bear season. By the time I graduated high school, that season was closed. They've (TPWD), have been doing research into the Black Bear populations in several East Texas counties for several decades. Still no progress on a viable population.
Several years ago the Eastern Turkey was re-introduced into East Texas. The Eastern's had been eradicated decades ago by over-hunting and poachers. That re-introduction has been a pretty good success story, so far. Biggest challenge to the Eastern's are (A). Poachers and (B) Fire Ants.
They now join our Rio's in huntable numbers.
Spring Turkey for Eastern's starts April 22nd and runs thru May 14th.
The season on Rio's runs from April 3rd thru May 16th. (Better KNOW your Turkey species)!!!
I hope Missouri has GREAT success with their Black Bear program.
Texas has a very good program and success story with Desert Bighorns.
It's nice to see Hunter's tax dollars at work!!

Re: News in Mo.
I hunt in Miller county in Missouri. Our county will be open for bear but I have never seen or got a picture of one on a trail cam. Might take another 10 years or so to get up my part of the state.
We do have mountain lions though. But very rare
And damn armadillo left are everywhere now!!! Good target practice with my at-15...
