A "Little" springtime project
Boy am I excited for Turkey season. I had some leftover parts on my bench and after talking to Tyler, known here on the forum as Wheelsquad, I decided to get going on a new bow for our spring turkey season. I wanted a crossbow that shot around 300 fps with Micro limbs and was very compact.
Tyler shared some info and measurements with me and I sent a 360BD rail and riser to Tim Burkhart to have the rail shortened and have the trigger lever moved forward 2 inches. He also installed an ACP trigger with custom linkage. When I got it back I made a walnut stock with one of Tylers cheek rests and added a folding stirrup. The stirrup uses a spring to keep it in the folded position. With the stirrup folded it is 22 1/2 inches long. I had to keep some wood to show off a little of the grain but kept trimming until my overall weight was 7 1/2 pounds.
I have tried every broadhead in my toolbox and it shoots them all with excellent accuracy. I settled on the Swat Chopper and Schwacker 252 fixed blades.
Thank you Tyler for your help. It is very much appreciated. I had never even thought of moving the trigger lever and that is what enabled me to keep the bow so short.

Our turkey season opens on May 1st for youth hunters and on the 3rd for everyone. And as of right now there are birds everywhere around here! Good luck to all the spring turkey hunters.
Take care

Wow I can't believe how compact that turned out! That folding stirrup really makes a difference, what a sweet little rig. I told myself I was done with builds for a while, but if I do another one I think I know which direction to go. Thank forum member "racking up points" for the idea of bulldogging a bulldog even more.

Re: A "Little" springtime project
I'm curious why the folding stirrup the things already incredibly short even with a full stirrup.

I can answer for Hatchet I think.... It's so he can shoot the decapitation heads and not have to worry about stirrup clearance or shoot overly long arrows.longbow joe wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 10:37 pmI'm curious why the folding stirrup the things already incredibly short even with a full stirrup.
