Dead serious. Little red ticks, thousands of them. I was not able to identify exactly what the were. My best ability was moose ticks. But at the same time they looked like regular old deer ticks.
There are on what we call "moose pastures". Basically flooded areas in between shield rocks that are now solid bogs. They still float in some spots. They used to grow hay on them seasonally decades ago. Now they have grass on them that looks like saw grass, and grows waist high or more. When you come out the other side, your pants would be completely covered in those ticks. But nobody I know has ever had a tick on their skin.

Tried to find pics, but I cant find them. I know my buddy is terrified of ticks, so he took pics. But he can't find them either. He had thousands on him, it was pretty bad I'll admit.
So funny side story about him and ticks. He's so terrified of them he's constantly googling pics and of course you only find the worst pics possible pics online. So when we were chatting about spraying our clothes down about a month ago in prep for turkey. I casually mentioned to the group that "this Permethrin is important because I heard of a guy who got a tick right on his BH but didn't do anything about it because he thought he only had a hemeroid. And it wasn't until he found it in his underwear, that he figured out what it was and what had been stuck to his BH for days." Then we went on with our day. Poor guy, we still haven't told him. If you can't have fun with your good hunting buddies fears and emotions, who can you have fun with?

Re: Ticks, ticks ticks,
Worst I’ve ever seen ticks is North Dakota. I was camping there in mid-summer, and could see them crawling all over the outside of my tent, looking for a way in.
I slathered myself with 100% DEET, which I hated to do before laying on my sleeping bag, plus it was a hot, sticky night, but I rubbed that nasty chemical on everything but my eyes.
Wouldn’t you know, when I woke up the next morning, I had one tick attached to me—sucking on my tearduct in the corner of my eye!

Re: Ticks, ticks ticks,
I treat all my hunting clothes with permethrin before each hunting season. I also have clothes pretreated and good up to 70 washes and the tag states do not retreat and discard properly so my question is why can’t I retreat it with permethrin?

Because they want you to buy more. I re-treat mine every season.

How bad are ticks in the woods in N. Wisc.
Looks like we'll be there in July thru Sept. Maybe into Oct., depending on weather.
Last yr. the ticks weren't really a problem.

Just reading about a human testing going on in Nebraska of a new “vaccine type” for lyme disease, so there maybe hope, fingers crossed.
