Y25 so far
I have done a few things with "Special X" and decided to hunt with her this fall. I hope to be able to have a two deer year with the crossbow again this year, and this model deserves that I think. I'm currently working inside the house because it's just too dang hot out. I would be making a few strings but my hands are hurting pretty good today for some reason. Remarkably every fastener came out without fail, I did the Boo on them though, I beat them like they owe me money!
Anyway, I'm getting anxious, still waiting for the parts I want on the front end before shooting, but I might just swap mine from the Vortex and cheat a few days. drStirrup bumpers, and the 5S posts. Anyway, Nikon P3 / Excalibur Trigger, and ADF, the ACP version / Leupold Rifleman rings, medium height. / and yes Boo, that retainer hangs out there a bit! I'm going to shoot with it, and if it's not an issue, I'll move on.
The bow has less scratches than I do, and much more character!

That's a sharp looking rig! I know I'm just getting into crossbows, but I've always loved archery. Sent mine in to Excalibur to have my latches worked on and it socks not having it, I want to shoot! Someone told me I need a backup, thinking about itvreal hard. Nice bow.

Re: Y25 so far
Dan my retainer is the same on the vortex with that setup
The bolt dosnt "know " or care where the retainer is probably less friction further down anyway l had no issues.
Havnt had time to play with mine yet ..just got a p3 and rings in the mail but it's gonna be a August project from what l can see.
Just no time here ,havnt had a minute to even ride the motorcycles yet ...summers on turbo it seems.
BUT I DO UNCASE IT OFTEN AND ADMIRE IT.

Great, I'm swapping risers & limbs so I can shoot tomorrow. Got battery number 2 on the trickle charger, getting the boat ready this week. Take care folks, be shooting tomorrow!longbow joe wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 2:25 pmDan my retainer is the same on the vortex with that setup

I swapped front ends, could not stand the excitement. Will shoot a little tomorrow morning to get her set at 20 yards, and evaluate the trigger, and overall thoughts.

Right off the assembly rack, no adjustments, 10 yards free hand.
After a few clicks.
I'm hunting with this bow this fall, 460 total grains with 100 grain heads, going to use the SWAT Hybrids in the fixed position, love the trigger Joe! In my opinion, the single stage setting is perfect for hunting, and this one seems to me to be perfect for this model.

Re: Y25 so far
Yes I do Norm, I thought it was too far forward with the swept trigger but it is really fine and a gloved finger gets in easily. Absolutely love this trigger! Excalibur did a great job in my opinion.

Cool awsome shooting dan when l get back from my myrtle beach vacation mid July l will have more fun money for the upgrades I'm gonna go with the pro shot also.
I'm a mounted quiver kind of crossbow guy but l might go with the Allen archery 2 tube quiver in my back pack my brother does on this model but I'm not sure. Are you going with a bow mounted quiver?

No Joe, I popped for the drStirrup Quiver, and it is expensive, and it is heavy, but it is the best out there. You can mount it if you want to, but I stuff into my backpack, then tie it to the tree when I'm in the stand. I was using the Excalibur quiver the same way. First year I hunted with it on my bow until I turned to shoot and brushed a couple fletchings through a limb cluster on the tree, no more obstacles for me.
