Swat Broadheads
I have been looking at Swat broadheads and trying to choose which to use in my Lil' BD. It has the same power stroke as a 308 Short and I use Dragon claw arrows that weigh around 300grn. Would like to use the same head for deer and turkey.
I have mostly used fixed heads in the past but I am after a better blood trail. Last year my wife shot a nice doe with a Muzzy 3 blade and it only left a couple drops of blood to follow. It didn't go far but when I field dressed it I found it was full of blood. It sure would be nice to have all that blood to help tracking when necessary. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks and take care

Re: Swat Broadheads
For your poundage XBOW I would suggest the 100 gr SWAT JUGGERNAUT TITANIUM and take a broadside or quartering away shot.
4 blade and total cut is 2.75"

I like the A4-Mini in chisel point, but will use the Hybrid in the fixed position this fall with the Vortex platform. Norm is the guy to ask however, and his advice is worth noting!!

Swat XMAGS are my go to with my 400fps bow!
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Re: Swat Broadheads
Try a Ramcat 125gr.
Blood trail has more to do with where you hit them and if there is an exit hole than cut size.

The Mini-Mag did well for me last year. I'm going to the Crossbow Magnum this year.

Re: Swat Broadheads
Thanks everyone for your replies. I took Norms advice and ordered the Juggernaut TI. Still have time to try em out of my setup. I've tried mechanical broadheads before with mixed results. The ones I've tried in the past got set aside for turkey hunting or for vermin control around the poultry houses. I have one crossbow setup with the Truglo Titanium X for our youth Turkey hunt on Sat.
Summer is over and it's time to hit the woods!
Take care

Good choice, I'm looking forward to handling the Juggernaut's. They look promising.Hatchet wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 3:25 pmThanks everyone for your replies. Re: Swat Broadheads
SWATS fly like your field point POI in my experience.
I have verified that with various arrow lengths, weights, and arrow speeds over last last few years using them. The Juggernaut features .040 SS blades which are about the thickest mechanical blade offered by various mechanical head manufacturers today.
I don't even practice anymore with my JB welded SWAT heads in various models.
I suggest avoiding a quartering to shot in the shoulder because arrows penetration can be compromised by heavy bone and muscle, especially to a large cut mechanical ( even fixed heads ) . It might work on a 110 lb doe but iffy on a large bucks frame.
As mentioned earlier, broadside or quartering away is a done deal placed right.
I'll put my wallet on them. If you don't like them I buy the rest from you Hatchet.

Hopefully I write a good report on the Hybrids soon, like three weeks. Weather permitting of course.

As said in my other post the A-4 mini performed fine with my vixen 2 that is slower than your bow.used it for 4 kills already all but one forwarded shot went thru .All deer dead within 30 yards or less.
