I haven't carried a pack in years. My camo pants have 6 pockets and my shirt has 2. I usually bring a knife, gloves, face mask, range finder, binoculars, rope cocker and (in the morning) a tight sealing coffee mug. All of my hunting is done on my farm from already placed stands. I don't need to take much with me.

I walk in very light in terms of what I'm wearing to avoid sweating. That said, I also hunt in two stages to keep the weight down, I have a pack that I keep in the truck for field dressing, and recovery of my deer. So here is my hunting pack.
Two flashlights, the headband type
Hat
Face mask
Gloves
Bow hanger
Grunt call
My favorite attractant
GPS
Whistle / compass
Lighter
Glow Tacks
Knife
50' hoist rope, doubled with two hooks.
Quiver with three arrows
Water
Candy bars, in case my sugar drops
Clothes to put on a tree stand
Cell Phone
Cat Tail for checking wind, just thread that I tie onto my stirrup to watch wind

I will have a spare string and "stringer". Other than that, I plan to carry a lot of food. Hunting makes me hungry....

My favorite first aid item is gorilla glue in brush form.
At work l have gotten 10 to 12 stitch cuts and glued em tight ....Heal up in 3 days or so with a few re glues .
Most of my hunts are 15 minutes from home l can get another bow if l have a breakdown....what's a breakdown with an exo bow lol.

Re: What are you carrying in your pack this yr?
When l evening turkey hunt in the spring its common for me to eat a giant hoagie in the doghouse blind ...why deprive yourself during turkey season....,onions hot pepper and my favorite is a giant shrimp ring.....to bad deer can smell . It would be fall deer hunting food too.
Xb hunting makes me hungry also. Deer hunting is more of a Jerkey and beef stick kinda thing along with lots a peanut butter crackers maby a small redbull to keep the old guy awake so he don't go down.

I’m in a similar situation and am only hunting on my own place, but I still carry a pack with a skinning knife, range finder, binoculars, paper towels, face mask, flashlight, granola bar, water bottle, and my quiver.grouse wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 8:57 amI haven't carried a pack in years. Depends on what I'm hunting and where I'm hunting.
Minimum-- couple of headlamps- extra batteries
3 knives- sharpener
Water-snacks
TP-paper towels- gallon ziplock bags
Tow strap
Extras- binos, rangefinder, gamebags, lunch, first aid kit of some kind. Scent wafers etc. Poncho , game calls
A lot more depending weather and time of yr.

Every Day Backpack:
TP.... A 2 purpose commodity!!
Small 1st Aid kit.
Flashlight
3 Knives. And a small bone saw.
Latex gloves
Camo gloves
Face mask
Wind checker
Grunt call
Scent Killer field wipes
Zip ties
Water and snacks.
Binos
Rangefinder
Extra string
Set of Allen wrenches.
String aide.
Rope cocker.
And an extra seat cushion carabinered to my backpack.
And lastly...a Dying Rabbit call. Why? In case my Deer hunt turns into a Coyote Hunt!!
As the weather gets colder, I'll add hand warmers to the gear along with extra clothes and a heavier balaclava and warmer gloves.

You guys would be amazed to see where electrical tape and to a lesser degree cable ties will come in handy. Heck, I have a half roll in my blinds, back and truck. It is my most common McGiver tool!
