Truck hitch deer hoist
Thinking about getting a truck hitch deer hoist. Any input if you used one would be helpful. Thanks.

Yep, I got mine online for around $139 a few years ago. Works great if you're by yourself, but you do need a gambrel to hook behind the tendons that is short. If I remember correctly it came with one made from 5/16" diameter steel rod. With my Tacoma SR5 I could almost get a big deer above the bed, but not quite. Get one that swivels, makes a huge difference. Great for gutting a deer too!

I carry this one in the back of my truck from the start of bow season till the end of deer season and it does come in very handy. Bought it many years back now from Sportsmans Guide. I can lower the tailgate and it swivels also.

These are extremely useful!! And like Dan says, "get one that swivels"!!

I needed one of these the other day and I think I'm going to get one now
Re: Truck hitch deer hoist
I purchased one this year at princess auto For around $100. Used it this fall during the black powder hunt in Southwestern Ontario. Made it easy to put 225 pound dear in the back of my pick up. Also used it on the back of my commander side-by-side.. Coming from a welding and fabricating background I'm going to make a few modifications to it ...All around they are pretty good as is !

I made one and it works just fine used a old boat trailer winch . I used it to help set up my elevated blind and it worked slick
Re: Truck hitch deer hoist
Don’t put more than 200 pounds on it. I put a code elk around 500 pounds and it bent mine over.
Re: Truck hitch deer hoist
I used both my Sportsman Guide deer hoist and my Hawk Crawler this morning. Probably saved an almost 72 YO dried up ole man's life and his back as he was stupid enough to be the only person on his club. No help at all. Another ridge runner.
