Broadheads
Do any of you use the TOA broadheads? If so, are they difficult to sharpen and do they hold an edge?

Re: Broadheads
Good timing, today I placed a $1200.00 cdn order with TOTA broadheads.
TOTA is a smaller handshake company producing a compact, well flying broadhead in 1" and 1 3/16".
Made in USA from US steel. All heads are machined from one piece steel and heat treated.
Prices are reasonable and don't break the bank.
New for 2022 TOTA just released the Solid Series (non vented) in 100, 125 and 150 gr 1".
Also new in 2022 is the 150 gr Solid in 1 3/16" cut.
My Canadian Moose hunters really like the 175 gr 1 3/16" offering . I am in the process filling a 5 dozen group order for my finest double carbon wall BE arrows, spine indexed, fitted with 200 gr Ethics Custom SS inserts and 175 gr TOTA for a total of 650 grain.
I call them my SS or Super Spanker arrows
In my testing TOTA shot into a foam target did not need re sharpening till after 15+ or so shots. Even at 20 shots into the Morrel High Roller target the TOTA still holds a cutting edge.
TOTA offers a specific 22.5 degree angle sharpener that does not break the bank and is easy to use on 2 or 4 blade heads.
I was easily able to re sharpen to factory spec using this sharpener.
Lastly, they arrive to customers very sharp I might add.

Re: Broadheads
Normous, thanks for the info. I am planning to try the TOA broadheads next deer season. It appears they are presently out of stock on the sharpeners so will probably order when they are back in stock.

Re: Broadheads
TOTA told me my broadhead order including half dozen sharpeners ship in one week. Hope that helps.

Re: Broadheads
^^ A group of Ontario Excalibur Crossbow fly in moose hunters contacted me to build them 5 dozen NSS ( Norms Super Spanker) arrows for this falls moose hunt.
This group specified heavy, detailed to spec , total weight over 600 grains and tipped with 175 gr TOTA 4 blade fixed heads. They tell me most shots are under 30y utilizing good calling techniques developed over 20 years of practice. A heavy penetrating arrow is welcome to this group.
So, I went to work on 3 specified lengths, 16.25", 18.4" and 20".
They wanted Spine Indexed Zombies .001, Double Carbon Wall construction and 200 gr SS Ethics Inserts.
The 16.25 inchers came in total at 606 gr.
18.4" at 630 gr total.
20" at 662 grain.
So far weight uniformity is within 1 grain. Not to bad I guess.

Placed order for TOTA broadheads and sharpener. Anxious to see how they fly WRT field points.

Re: Broadheads
Last year at spring bear we put a TOTA head through a target from 20 yards at almost 500fps a couple dozen times. It went into the dirt and rocks quit a few times and it did not show any wear what so ever. If I recall correctly the arrow was done after that session, but the head was ready to hunt.
