O/T Off-Road Trailer Suspension
Anyone have a trailer set up with this off-road suspension system:
https://timbren.ca/p-35853-axle-less-trailer-suspension.html?fbclid=IwAR3X2OhU8vsm_n870FXr_jarWqPvkdOi3pIjJzjzM6QRWtl09lbnbogvLVo
I have a small boat trailer that works fine on the pavement but as soon as i start dragging it into back lakes on 4WD trails and backing it into lakes on less than ideal launch sites it pretty quickly gets destroyed.
Had one season where i broke the leaf springs 3 times, wrecked the slipper joint on one side, multiple flats, destroyed rims etc...
The Timbren suspension is not cheap but will double my clearance and no axle to get hung up. It will also take up to a 16 inch rim and was thinking of going with Duratracs which for the miles they are going to get and being stored inside should outlast me. I also carry a 12V compressor all the time so i could easily air the Duratracs down on the rough stuff and air back up once i hit the pavement. Still hemming and hawing though as the suspension, set of idler hubs, 2 tires plus 2 rims plus HST is more money than the trailer is worth - but i know i am sick of stocking an array of parts and tires for that thing plus the time and inconvenience when i break an axle and set of leaf springs in the middle of nowhere.
I tried to find a pre-built off road trailer for small boats (12 to 14 feet) and they do exist but are 5K+ and for some reason couldn't find any in Canada.
Thoughts? On my mind right now as the ice will be gone in +/- 2 weeks and there are some really good bear bait sites that i access by zodiac and trailer killing trails.

Off Topic - Might have to pick your brain one day about Zodiac inflatables. On my wish list.
Sorry , can't help you with your main question.
Good luck bear hunting. We are 3 weeks out from Temagami spring bear 22.

Anytime man! Good ones are tough and basically unsinkable and for the size have monster payloads. Mine is 12' 8" and is rated for 1600+ lb payload. Round sides make getting heavy animals in the boat easier as well. With a 15 HP yammy on mine it gets on plane in a reasonable amopunt of time and cruises at +/- 30 km/hour.
Bear baiting run - including me i had 1400 lbs in the boat on this trip:

My immediate thought is that the taller the side walls, the less damage you’ll see. Tires are a major part of shock absorption on any vehicle.

Re: O/T Off-Road Trailer Suspension
taller tires , would help a lot....if trailer is used only off road maybe set up a walking beam axle ...no center axle to hang up and more stable because of the walking beam

My little trailer for my tuffy has a torsion axel I'm not sure if it's better than a leaf spring but so far it's been pretty tough.
I fabricated the alluminum arms so the axles don't hang up on anything l can basically launch the tuffy anywhere ramp or not.

The tuffy has been a great alternative to a air filled boat 10mm thick poly tough as nails with a 3 person payload not as big a payload as yours but still very useful l have a 15 on it.
On YouTube people take them in the ocean...lol. not me...but nice to know

Re: O/T Off-Road Trailer Suspension
I can imagine the nasty stuff you have to drive thru up there.
How about a tandem axel set up l have a tandem axel on my big lund boat it kinda divides the weight up better but l assume it's just more moving parts also .As far as tires go l know they make some heavy ply models in trailer sizes.
