Road killed deer
I'm seeing a lot more road killed deer this year than I normally do at this season. When I drive up to my farm, there seems to be numbers of dead deer by the road comparable to the fall. Have any of you noticed any anything different in your area?

I just saw three new road kills yesterday.

Suicide!
Yes, we have noticed more than usual this time of year. Less food with the housing boom displacing lots of deer around here. I used to hunt a farm years ago where the farmer told me that the deer would travel about three miles to get water, and return to his woods in the fall where water was a bit more scarce, but food was abundant. Look around the ares you live and see if a lot of displaced deer are present.

I haven't seen any road kills recently but have noticed more deer along or crossing the roads and also showing up on my property, after not seeing too many for a while, seems like they are on the move.
Re: Road killed deer
Can't say I've seen more road kill than usual but they have been pretty active as of late. This week is gonna be a hot one so we'll see how that affects things.
Re: Road killed deer
same here in my part of Missouri Grouse,
mostly fawns, but seeing does as well
had 1 doe die about 350 yds. in front of my house by the pond,
i think she died fawning she looked pretty pooched out in the back
took about 3 days for the yotes and buzzards to clean it up.

Re: Road killed deer
I'd say we're about average around here, but I have seen more over the last couple weeks. They seem to move a little bit more often once the little ones drop. Then I start to see more doe and some fawns hit. I see two or three roadkill daily.
I passed a fresh accident scene this morning when a doe decided to try to slip between two passing cars going opposite directions. She got hit by one car and bounced into the path of the other which pegged her again. A police car was pulling into the scene as I passed.
I've had a few pucker moments lately when I've noticed them feeding in tall grass right off the side of the road as I'm passing them at highway speeds.

My wife and I had a brand new Chrysler 300 car rental and hit and killed 2 deer one hour apart.
The second one was hit at 75 mph and sent it sideways into an oncoming F250 driving at the same speed I think. Upon impact the deer sort of exploded covering our rental with a darn right BLOODY and GUTTY MESS!!
My wife was crying at the same time of the second impact thinking about all the damage the car had from the one she hit an hour earlier. Darn Deer
On a good note, my Platinum Credit Card had Rental Car coverage and paid the $17,500 repair bill. Don't leave home without it.

Can`t say for in your area . But I am definitely seeing them out in the middle of fields trying to escape the mosquito swarms .
