Do you guys know where to get heavy, around 175 grain glue-in points for 1716 shafts? I do not know any company that makes such a heavy points. But perhaps some of you have some information or contacts.
Here is another source that you may want to check out. They specialize in traditional archery and have a lot of glue on heads going up to 190 gr. www.3riversarchery.com

glue on heads usually don't work with aluminums-especially ones that thin where the thinnest wood arrow tends to be 5/16 (20/64) as opposed to 17-64
DaveHawk, heavy point is needed when shooting small diameter (1714 or 1716) bolts to get enough total weight. If one makes, for example, 14 inches long 1714 bolt, the shaft weigts only 113 grains.
the main reason has to do with FOC and leverage. Xbow bolts tend not to be as stable as longer arrows because the leverage of the fletching is not as great on shorter shafts. You can get great arrow flight out of a compound-or even a well shot recurve, with 8% FOC which is why the aluminum nibb points used to come in 7-9% FOC marked on them. the thinner carbon arrows (like the ACE) require a bit more but many compound archers, seeking IBO minimum weight arrows often shoot 30-50 grain points on carbon or aluminum line cutter arrows.
Xbow bolts need far more FOC-especially when using the ultrasmall vanes that we use on the serious target bows-I use 38MM Estonian FALCO vanes and a 200 grain point
my indoor target set up is feathers (lighter than vanes) on a LAser II with 175 front weight or more
