New Excoet 200 serving separation problem
New Excoet 200 serving separation problem
I just received my new Exocet 200, and was sighting it in this weekend. Even after waxing/rubbing the serving every 5 shots I have 3 separation locations. Two line up with the outside edges of the string catch, (when it is cocked) the third is located about 1/4" out where the rope cocking hook would be. How do I fix/prevent this from occuring again? Must I now replace the string after 30 shots? Shoots Great!!
Don't hurt nutten, just looks bad.
First just twist and push the serving back to gether, next take a very fine round file or a fine sandpaper and smooth off the outside edges of your hooks on the cocker as they catch the serving as you pull it back. By rounding the outside edges of the hooks the serving can slide as you cock the xbow.
If you kepp getting seprations at the string catch(claw) smooth them off also or retuen to Excalibur so they can smooth them off....

It's normal on our bows to have the serving seperate where the claws of the catch hold onto it. Imagine the stress on the tiny area that the catch contacts at 200 or more pounds! If you want to tighten the serving up a bit you can do so by twisting the string a few twists in the direction that causes the serving to "lock" together (this is obvious if you twist it when it's off the bow). Nevertheless, this is a non problm and you won't experience any difficulties if the serving seperates.

This happens to mine too and is normal. Just watch the main string for wear. I recently had my serving replaced at my bow shop, they didn't charge me anything.
