My Exocet blew up!Help!
Dry fired my new Exocet and cracked both limbs. Anyone know what a new set of limbs cost?
No idea, but you might want to contact Excalibur about it - email service@excaliburcrossbow.com

Re: How
Not sure what happened? I had a Gold Tip arrow on it and when i shot it sounded weird and flew off to the left, never found the arrow. Anyone have any ideas what happened?axis wrote:How did you do that ?I'd just call Excal tomorrow and order them. How much they cost dose not matter, because if you don't get new ones all you have is junk. Good luck!

Thanks! I have shot and hunted with a compound for 24 years so this is all new to me! Never experienced anything like it!Kind of shook me up! Was absolutely amazed at the accuracy! Dialed it in at 20 yards adjusted my speed dial and dead on at 50 yards! I was really enjoying the evening!Hoss wrote:Tad I say your string prematurly blew...thats not a true dry fire if you had a arrow on the rail...Excal should warranty im thinkin...who knows...but as good a service they have they prob will...contact them as suggested...Bill will be good to you......

Hmmm.... I had the exact thing happen to me a while ago. Some of the members thought it was a partial dry fire due to the bolt not being pushed all the way back. The first time it happened there was no damage. Then a couple weeks ago it happened again, this time splitting the right limb. I called Excalibur, talked to Peter, and all is well. I sent in the limbs and new ones were sent out to me yesterday. Just in time too!!!
Call Excalibur, ask for Peter, explain what happened and I'm sure they will give you new ones. From the sounds of it, you weren't abusing the xbow, so you shouldn't have any issues.
Good to know I'm not the only one to break one!!
Excalibur, you guys are good!!!

If the arrow didn't hit the target dead on when you shot you can be sure that the string didn't break. If a string breaks in ALWAYS breaks after the arrow is in flight during the recoil phase. Usually an exocet will survive a dryfire, but it is extremely unusual to have both limbs break. I honestly can't ever remember this happening! If you get your limbs off to our US warranty station at

He can get another set of limbs on your bow for you pronto. The most we ever charge on dryfired limbs is a $15 charge to cover our time to replace them, but if you talk nice to Dan our warranty guy at 740 483 2312 he may not worry about it.

Bill T. & readers.
I have a possible explanation. I once had a partial dry-fire with my Vixen. I had an arrow loaded, but didn't shoot right away. When I did shoot the bow made one heck of a funny noise and the arrow went up & left of where I was aiming (not even close to the target). I examined everything carefully and nothing was damaged and nothing appeared wrong with the crossbow, but the aluminum arrow was bent. I shot some more and all was fine. I was at a loss for an explanation as to why it happened, so I did some experimenting to see if the arrow could easily be dislodged from the nock contacting the string solidly. It could! Thinking back, I had leaned the crossbow against a tree stirrup down, while I had answered nature's call
I believe the arrow had moved forward enough to cause the string to jump a couple inches before making contact. When it did hit the nock, it must have slid under the arrow and caused the incident. Being an aluminum shaft it bent, but a carbon could possibly stand the shock and remain intact? Since that event (a few years ago) I have always made it a point to be sure the arrow is seated solidly against the string, and have never had a repeat performance.

Thanks for all the help! The bow is on it's way to recovery! We determined that the shaft was crushed from the side, just below the fletching, and not noticed! Clearly my fault for not being more observant! No more shooting at the same dot!The performance and Customer service has made me a customer for life!Bill T wrote:If the arrow didn't hit the target dead on when you shot you can be sure that the string didn't break.
