Vixen or Phoenix ?
What advantage is there between vixen and phoenix, for target shooting and hunting deer? Or should i try the Exocet for hunting?
Big Bucks olny!!!
bad advice IMHO, I can afford any of them and my favorite is a deluxe vixen or now the phoenix., I sold my heavier bows. there is NO advantage to the heavier bows for deer sized game. YOU wear out the string faster, I don't think the lock will last as long and its rough to cockSpank wrote:If money is not an issue, just get the Max. I know of a lot of people who have ugraded to a more powerful Excal but I don't know too many who have downsized. You can never have too much power (within reason he he... something to think about.
notice the fellow talked about target shooting
best scenario-BUY a POINT BLANC or a Phoenix with LIGHT LIMBS for target and set up another Phoenix for hunting (IF money is no issue)
for 3D the phoenix is best-easy to get the 300 limit without really light arrows
exomax will get you banned at most shoots

I have both the Vixen and the Pheonix. I like them both. My Pheonix is quieter with the dissipator bars and pads, and shoot's flatter than my Vixen.
Both of them are accurate also. If you'd just after deer, I say buy either one, you don't need the Exocet 200 of Exomax, they will just go through strings faster, lol. Personaly if they made the Vixen in a camo finish, than I would go with the Vixen. But I love my Pheonix as it is camo and is just what I want. Does the job

The two best xbows from Excal IMHO are the Vixen and Pheonix, they are identical except for the riser. Other than that, the 25 lb pull advantage and 25 fps. both are tack drivers and will take down most game animals in North America. Move up to a Exocet 200 for moose if need be. My Vixens are great for both target shooting and hunting, and my Excal Paradox is only for hunting.

Ok personal preference again... the max is not hard to cock. I am 150 pounds and i can cock a max. Also, (I might be wrong
) with hunting there is one advantage with a more powerful bow... more kinetic energy at longer ranges. I know the max is overkill for anything personally I don't see nothing wrong with overkill on a moose or even a deer. Just keep em in good shape. Jim and TYE you both do pose very good points, and I'll at least let you know I get what you mean.

For you where you live, I'd get the Vixen. First of all its bullet proof, tack driver, and low on maintenance costs. Of my Exomag (#200) and my Vixen (#150), the Vixen will be the first bow I take deer hunting this fall.
I don't know if anyone's noticed this, but of the Phoenix, and Exocet 200, there's been alot of faults with the new Xbows with the limbs pointing forward on the new risers, putting maybe to much pressure on the limbs.
Newer technology isn't always better.

I wish Bill would bring back the Vixen Deluxe!
What a beautifull bow, more than enough power for hunting Deer and fine for Moose at the appropriate range with the proper bolts!
I think the phoenix is a good bow, but any bow with more # draw and the angled riser could be trouble for you in my opinion!
30-35 yards is about all you should be shooting at a Deer anyway, so longer range and more kinetic energy may only be helpfull for moose hunting in the right scenario! IMO
Whatever you decide to get, enjoy and have a good season!

Most problems have been with the Max....
The two I have set up fer hunting this season is my Phoenix and by super Duper 200LB Exomag. Phoenix is super and quiter but is my back-up xbow....

The first excal I bought was a Exomax, and the second a exocet 175.
Both have their uses, I have shot much more than 100 shots with my exomax and no one problem. It's a super xbow. I love to feel that power on my hands.
But to target shooting, I use more my exocet 175 (like the phoenix poundage). Just to be light to cock it a lot of times.
With any excalibur, you can't go wrong.

I'm all for gun control. To me, gun control is putting 2 bullets in the same hole... UNCLE TED
I believe I'd go with the Phoenix simply because it looks better
Now if they offered the Vixen in hardwoods camo the choice would be tougher
I think either one would be a great performer, and either one quite suitable for North American game. The Phoenix has a slight edge on performance, but the Vixen is a little easier to cock and string.
Tough choice, but you can't loose either way!!!!!!!!!
