More GoldTip Problems! RESOLVED!

Post by GonHuntin »

I just can't win!!!

For those that haven't been keeping up with my GoldTip "adventure", I received a dozen GoldTip bare shafts with 1 shaft of a different size in the package......I spoke with GoldTip customer service this morning and they are suppose to send a replacement shaft.

I was preparing to install the inserts in some of the correct size shafts and found this:

Image

Three of the correct size shafts are scored near the ends......the two in the photo are the worst.......I have NO doubt that these shafts will break if I shoot them!!

This is my first GoldTip purchase and I am NOT impressed at this point.

I'm waiting on a call from GoldTip to see what they will do. Will update when I find out........

Wow, I don't know how you are keeping it together. Maybe you're not  . I would be very upset to find faults with a replacement item, and the manufacturer would get an earfull for sure.

Bad enough it happened once,................but twice is a little much.

These are the original shafts, I called about the odd size shaft problem this morning and then found the other problem this afternoon!

The scores on the 2 shafts in the photo are deep.......looks like it happened during the cut to length process at the factory.......very poor quality control when, out of a dozen new shafts, one is the wrong size and 3 are damaged!

Waiting to see how they handle it.........

UPDATE:

Just got an e-mail back from GoldTip........they are going to replace all the shafts, not just the bad ones. I can't ask for more than that!

The true measure of a company is not how they treat a potential customer before he buys.......it's how they treat that customer when they already have his money!!!

In this instance, I have to say that GoldTip customer service is excellent!!

I have had the same great customer service from Excalibur and that is why I use and recommend only Excalibur crossbows!!

I wonder if these guys are doing what other companies do. When you buy retail from a store where you can actually see the product, so they tend to send them the best quality product, because you see it. And when you order from the internet if thats what happened in your case, maybe sometimes you get 2nd quality products or worse. I know it works that way with computer monitors sometimes from internet orders. I have seen it myself and have had many coworkers and friends to complain of poor quality products from internet orders. Bad pixels and small inperfections things of that nature. But anyways, I'm glad that made it right for you. Good luck.

I wouldn't worry, BM.

Gold Tip is like Excalibur, they back their product 100% and if something ain't right it gets taken care of right away.

If Gold Tip was truly concerned about their reputation they would discipline the people involved (Quality control/dealers for not paying attention) and fix you up no charge.
i doubt very much that the folks that "just work for goldtip" would take it upon themselves to cut up some full length light shafts that just happened to be in inventory...i'm sure there was some direction there...as far as quality control who knows...

ah, now let me see...if i had to weigh each shaft before it left the shop ..........that's 239 dozen X 12 = 2868 shafts (so far)...don't think i'd have the time, and if i did, i'm sure the price would have to reflect that...

- gold tip assures us that each shaft with a heat wrap sticker is now machine weighed...(obviously there is still going to be a few shafts out there, until this all gets weeded out..)they have said that they stand behind their product 110% and will replace any shafts that are defective (i think we've already seen them go beyond that in some cases...)
- think it's time to cut 'em a little slack here and move on from this issue...everytime someone comes up with a lone shaft, the whole apple cart gets upset once again...they said they made a mistake (that's more than what some companies will do), they agree to fix it, what more can we ask ???....let's let this thing die and move on (now if some shafts show up with the shrink wrap and are once again, out of spec  ...........that's a different story...

I agree with most of what you wrote......I posted my experience, plain and simple........I wanted to warn people that there are still mixed shafts in the pipeline and probably will be for some time......I also wanted to warn people to carefully examine the shafts they receive for damage that they might not notice......when 3 out of 11 shafts are damaged (as shown in my photo), something is wrong! Yes, GoldTip DID make it right (if they follow through with their promise) by replacing the shafts and I gave them credit for that correction....... I would expect nothing less......does that make up for the dissapointment and frustration I experienced AFTER having warned the retailer that a problem existed.....NO!

I didn't come down on GoldTip or Keystone Country Store......mistakes happen........ I simply reported my experience as a warning to others......I would do the same thing if there was a problem with any other product we use......

I didn't even ask Keystone to weigh them.......when I voiced my concerns about the mixed shafts, they volunteered.......I even told them how much difference they should expect between the correct shafts and the superlights......then, they called me back and said the guys in the warehouse knew about the problem but that they had been told that the shafts shipped after a certain date were fine.......and that they had received a new shipment the week before......

After I spoke with GoldTip yesterday (the first time), I called Keystone and told them they still had a problem.......I didn't have to, my problem had been taken care of by GoldTip, but I figured it might save someone else from the same problem......

Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent to Keystone on August 29th, followed by the response on August 30th:

I need to order a dozen GoldTip crossbow shafts
(XBO2091504), but I have been informed this week that there
was a problem at the factory and that some of the series 22
ultralight shafts were cut down and mixed in with the Laser
II crossbow shafts. Needless to say, I don't want to order a
dozen shafts and have some of the light ones in the mix!
What would you suggest so that I get the correct shafts
without any of the wrong ones mixed in??

Thanks, Mark

Mark when you are ready to place the order we can have someone at the
warehouse check the xbow bolts before they ship them to you, Thank you
and we will be looking forward to your order.

I called and talked to Don on Sept. 2 and ordered the shafts......at that time, we discussed the mixed shaft problem and I told him what to expect each type of shaft to weigh. He took the order, then called me back a few minutes later and told me what I related above about the guys in the warehouse and the new shipment.......the bundle of shafts I received were still in the shrink wrap from GoldTip.......

Anybody have other problems with this brand?

Last week I was using the Excalibur arrow puller (the kind that threads into the end of the shaft) and instead of pulling the arrow out of the butt, I pulled the nock out of the shaft.
