THINED ONE OUT IN DIXIE!

Post by confederate »

Well I got my first kill yesterday afternoon. I got a nice Doe with my Exocet. Its been really hot here in Georgia since the season opened. Lows about 65 and highs around 95. The heat has slowed the Deer movment and I havent seen but a few. I made a perfect hit with my Exocet. We only found one drop of Blood from a solid lung shot. The Deer went over 100 yards and had blood coming from her nose and mouth when we found her. It only took about 20 minutes by flash light even though she went in a Cut over from waist to head high. I knew I heard her crash and that helped out. A new hunter may have not found this deer. I have seen this situation before so I new to give it my best effort. New hunters should remember that even good hits dont always mean an easy blood trail so dont give up until a good effort is given. Also,[WATCH OUT FOR RATTLERS!]

Glad you found your deer!! What broadhead did you use????

Twice, I have shot deer through both lungs and found very little blood on the bolt.......and I'm shooting feathers!!! The first time it happened, I found the deer before I found the bolt.....if I had found the bolt first, I would have thought I had missed or just nicked the deer as there was virtually no blood on the shaft or feathers!!! I always carefully examine the bolt after a shot, but I don't trust it as an indicator of how well the deer is hit!!!

I was useing the Wasp Boss. I have killed a lot of Deer with Thunderheads when I was Shooting a Compound. I went to the Wasp when I got my Exocet Package. I killed 3 Deer with them last year and was well satisfied with them. They really Shoot great too!

Congrats Conferderate, on your first bow kill. Being that hot out, I would suppose you have to get the deer straight to a cooler, or do you have enough time to process and butcher it right afterwards.

Congratulations!!!!!!
Still a few days to wait here, and I'm hoping it will cool down some before the opener (Oct. 1). Been cooling down at night, but still in the 80s in the day.
