Best arrow and broadhead for Deer?

Post by Center Shot »

What do you believe is the best arrow and broadhead for deer hunting with your crossbow. Right now I am shooting 2219's with 100 Slick Tricks out of my Exomax at 302 fps. I know there will be plenty of penetration, but is this to slow for whitetail deer, that might jump the string. I also understand that light arrows are hard on your bow. So what do you believe is the best arrow and broadhead set up for whitetail deer?

im using some GT2's with brass inserts and different vanes.. I believe they weigh around .440gr's also with slick trick 100 grain heads. My exocet 200 shoots those at 302-304fps also. I can put the stock GT2's on my bow and it shoots those at 320-321fps 8) but I will take the heavy bolt anyday since it flys better and hits harder

what you have is fine.. most compound bows shoot only 240fps max so we are leaving those in the dust.

also, always keep in mind that you are shooting a bow. Anything 25 yards and under its gonna be hard for a deer to jump the string, espically if he doesnt know you are there. Anything over 35 yards is pushing it with a deer jumping the string. Some seem to think they can shoot 50 yards or more at deer with these bows. Truthfully a buck has a very good chance of being gone before the bolt even gets there

keep your shots to 35 yards and under, or even 25 yards and under and you shouldnt have any issues 8)
