FOLKS ,
Does anyone use the Louisiana Guard Dog to hold & lock their ATV in the bed of a pickup ?
If so how do you like it & would you reccomend it ?
Thank you in advance for your time & help.

Re: LOISIANA GUARD DOG -ATV LOCK DOWN
Well, I don't have the actual Guard Dog, but I made my own knock off after seeing an ad for it. It is simple to build if you have the resources and material available. I don't think that I have $20 in mine, compared to the $130 USD price they go for. I really like mine, I just put the lower section into my receiver, put the ramps on the tailgate, drive up, put the upper arm in place and close the coupler onto my atv ball. Much better than tie downs, the atv stays securely in place, and I can have my machine loaded and securely locked in place in ready to be transported in about 2 minutes. If you are interested, I could post some photos of my setup.SOUP wrote:FOLKS ,

As requested, here are photos of my unit. I was too lazy to actually load my atv into my truck, so you will just have to use your imagination for that.
These are all the pieces before assembly.

This is the lower portion installed into my receiver.

This is the complete unit installed - you'll have to imagine the coupler being attached to the ball on an atv.

I can also put a trailer ball into the end of the unit, if I want to tow a small trailer.

I hope this sheds a little light on what I did and helps if you want to make your own. I was lucky enough to have the materials available for free, except for the coupler. Also, for added security you can use locking receiver and coupler pins.
