Duct Tape.....Oh God my worst fear

My father was one of those guys that used duct tape for everything, in Michigan we had some good winters which meant lots of salt on the road and rust of course on the cars. Now imagine getting ready to take the family car out on a date as your growing up and coming home to find duct tape covering the rust holes starting on the car. My father had a hunting hat that he had from WW2. OD in color ALWAYS wore it bow hunting as long as I can remember. After he passed away, I found that hat in his hunting bag and was wondering how in the world that thing lasted over 60 years. Under the brim I found the answer. Of course you guessed it, good ole duct tape. Now the scarey part of all this and of course your prlly wondering how in the world does this relate to this forum? Well, after just getting my new Excalibur Equinox here finally, I took it out this afternoon to try to zero the scope in with a 30 knot quartering headwind. I didnt have a bench rest and knew no way I was gonna hold that thing on target freehand with a 30 knot wind. Well my son told me that in Iraq they dont have bench rests either but they all seem to have something most homes have someplace usually if you have a camera, you prlly have a tripod someplace for it. So.....he tells me to take yah u guessed it.. duct tape and build a base on top of the camera tripod to rest the Xbow or rifle whatever. Good Lord. The genes have been passed down I actually found myself doing this and it worked. Got the scope sighted in and was Robin Hooding a few at 20yds and within 1 inch grp at 30 yds. Sooo now all I need is a nice buck without the horns being duct taped on!

I love DT
But I went this way on my tripods,I have one in every blind
They work great.
I went to wally world and G.M. and got cheap mono pod shooting sticks and took the adapter off.
When I make a kill I take the gun rest off and put on my camera and take my own pictures.I hunt alone mostly.

This picture was taken yesterday on my first Muzzleloader hunt of the season.
I need to trim the cut

I was a Glazier and autoglass installer (NGA Master Certified) for many years and duct tape was always in my tool box.

Mine was as well. When we visit the ranch my brothers and I still find items that Dad "repaired" with his favorite tool.

In a way, those items are now monuments.

I miss him more then words can describe.

My Dad is always "rigging" things to work or delaying an explosion.

He's still out there today and I'm sure he is fixin something.

I have used a tripod for sighting in too. I built up a base with old cloth and duct tape. Works like a charm.
