Orginial Exocet

Post by catkicker »

I bought my Excalibur Exocet about 9 yrs. ago. I cannot find my orginal paperwork on the bow and wondered if anyone had the complete specs. on the original exocet.
I'm thinking about passing it down to my 11yr. old son. We have his first Whitetail hunt planned for next season. This bow looks as nice today as the day I bought it 9 yrs. ago.

BIG difference between the old and the new Exocet. I don't know that there is much I can do to increase it's power. Time to start looking around for my next Excalibur.

you can add mag tips limbs to after mag tips are added you can add a fast flight string. you can also shim the riser to equal the newer forward risers

More power? My Exocet 165 has passed arrows through deer diagonally!

I replaced my '97 Exocet limbs with new carved tip limbs last year. I didn't shim anything though. No one told me to do that. :( Tell me what to do and how to do it. Thanks, Gary

But the higher power Exocet will bury the arrow deeper in the dirt after the pass through ninepointer. Get with the program!

How could I be so foolish?

Catkicker, thanks to MikeP and his ever-present wisdom, I've realized that your old Exocet is in fact way too under-powered for you or for your son  Deer are far tougher nowadays than they were in the 1990's.

My advice is get rid of that crossbow. Feel free to contact me about my "Cash for Clunkers" program

Better yet, donate that old Exocet to the Excalibur Kids program! :D

The difference isn't as BIG as you think, when one compares apples to apples. The 270FPS speed is obtained using a 400 gr. arrow. With an Exocet 200, (even using a fastflight string) if the same weight arrow was used, its speed would be nowhere near the 330FPS "advertised speed".

Its realistic speed would be a lot closer to 300 than to 330.

So is it worth the $$ to get a set of mag tips and fast flight string?

I added the shims, the mag tip limbs and I added a block on the end to give me more draw length. It is a 1993 exocet.I got all my info from Enormous, many thanks, I also put a flemish string on it. it works very well.

Dunno about that Cbear. My Y25 w/ Boo gets 311 fps w/ 400 gr arrows and the Boo costs me 8-9 fps vs FFF.
