spike bucks used to be illegal here in so. mississippi..but now it has been changed that no matter how many points it has to be at least a 10in inside spread or one mainbeam has to be a minimum of 13in. long..it has happened to me that my guesstimation was off a little when the deer was ground checked

No. Only if the spike is an older deer. And even then he probably isnt getting the chance to breed because of the really big boys whippin him. Never shoot a yearling or two year old. You never know what kind of giant he will turn out to be!
