Leaving rope cocker attached?

Post by DocGlenn »

Would it be harmful to leave the rope cocker attached to the string for a few days between hunts? It doesn't seem like it puts that much stress on the limbs, but I don't want to something that will harm the bow or the string. How long do you think you could leave it place before it started causing a problem? Thanks!

Mine stays all the time too.
Word of advice though, take it off before you shoot the bow, rumor has it, it hurts.

That is the way I leave my rope cocker BUT I am brand new to crossbows. I have seen reports where folks have their bow fully cocked all day without any harm to the limbs. I would be very interested in any problems in this area & thanks. Another advantage that I found is that when I am going to my tree stand in the dark I don't have to fumble around with the cocking aid as it is ready to go.

I leave it on too it won't hurt anything. Just a word of advice check the string for brace height every now and then because with the rope cocker on all the time you won't notice that the string has stretched a bit. temperature changes in the season will also change brace height so keep an eye on it. Hope this helps.

During hunting season, either the rope cocker is attached to my bow or it's cocked, one or the other. Of course, there are brief moments after a shot that I need to recock.

As for leaving them cocked all day, it won't hurt them. This past weekend I cocked my Equinox at around 6:00 AM before I went up the tree and uncocked it at around 9:00 PM when I was back at the truck.

The only time my rope cocker is not attached to the string is when my bow is cocked. :)
