Uh Oh! .357 arrowhead

Post by sipsey »

Anyone seen the video or ad for these bullet heads?

Rac-Em-Bac brings innovative design and thinking to bowhunters everywhere with the new Bow-Mag Arrowhead. The Bow-Mag Arrowhead combines the stealth delivery of an arrow with the power of a .38 or .357 Magnum bullet, effectively turning your compound bow or crossbow into an even deadlier, silent hunting tool. The Bow-Mag Arrowhead has been designed with medium-to-large game & nuisance animals in mind, bringing the Magnum punch of a bullet directly to your target. Simply secure your .38 or .357 Magnum round into the Bow-Mag Arrowhead cylinder, turn until the casing threads lock in place, then attach to your standard arrow shaft or crossbow bolt. The Bow-Mag is designed with safety in mind, ensuring that rounds will not fire until they hit your intended target, delivering firepower, Magnum impact and maximum stopping force where you want it.

Be careful not to drop this thing from your stand!

Uhhhh..... kind of takes away the whole reason for using a crossbow and arrow!!! Sounds again like a gimic to me, as I can't see a use for it. Although to each their own I guess.

Must have one!!
Not legal to hunt with here, likely not even legal to own one.
Doesn't stop my wheels from turning though..

Here in MN the gunshot wound on a "bow kill" would result in arrest, fine, possible loss of hunting privileges for 5 yrs...or more.
Vortex, Phoenix, single-shot rifles and handguns.

Not if you are killing "non-game" animals, right? You shouldn't be caught during bow season with these loaded up, but, otherwise . . .just shooting hogs . . .right?

Why couldn't these be used during gun season? Just for fun?

I personally don't trust them . . .what if you miss . . .where is that bullet going? A deflected arrow and it's hard telling what you might kill. Might be easier to recover your arrow . . .just follow the noise.

If you really want explosive power from your arrow, simply fill an aluminum or carbon arrow with Red Dot shotgun powder, then place a shotgun primer over the end of the arrow where the field tip insert would go. Tape a BB over the primer, aim and shoot. When the BB strikes the target it will set off the primer, which then in turn ignites the powder in the arrow shaft, creating quite the explosion. I imagine a faster burning powder (like black powder) would be even more explosive. Not sure I'd want to hunt with it though.

I think I will stick to broadheads thanks. But the explosion is quite impressive!

Waiting to hear from Texas to see if it will be legal to carry one for back up when hunting hogs
May my aim be true and my arrow fly straight

As a long time reloader of metallic cartridges and muzzloader shooter, I'm skeptical of the potential effectiveness this invention. Projectiles launched from a barrel are propelled by pressure. Pressure that is generated by gases expanding in a closed container: ther barrel. The speed, and therefore power, of said projectile is proportionate to the length of the barrel. Given the absence of a barrel, much like cartridges tossed into a fire propel the bullet with limited force after exploding, can't see where this is any different,
