A long while back I had the Hawke SR on an equinox, worked well.
I know what you mean about limited scope tube space, but it fitted in perfect position for me. Maybe I would have thought differently if I would have needed more adjustment back or forward though.

I tried the Hawke SR few yrs back. I could not get the eye relief i needed the tube was about an inch too short. I had to crawl the stock so i sent it back. I like abit more tube length to allow movin scope to suit me eye

The Guardian ADF rail has 9 slots for scope mount positions and they start further to the rear than the non ADF rail which has 5 slots. This may be an option as I believe that the Guardian will fit on any Excal CB which will allow more scope adjustment for eye relief. It also appears that the 355 uses the 9 slot rail without the ADF feature BUT I do not have one to examine, dang it!! Maybe someone can comment.

It's pretty easy to file another slot in a Weaver style base if you need to move it a bit.Just clamp a block on the base square and use it as a guide for your file. If you want to you can use one of the pens and put some color back in the groove you file. Just a thought
