Bow Leveling / Level Installation

Post by 8ptbuk »

I may be wrong about these Matrix bows but they seem more sensitive concerning POI when canting sideways than the Magtip bows did . Maybe the Speed ( 380 ) or the shorter length is involved . Anyway I thought I might install a level of some sort on the left side of the riser so I could get a quick reference before the shot . Any suggestions on a level ? Thanks

You can get a fancy one from Excalibur or one of these.

Excalibur sells them, but for some reason does not show it in their catalog.
The Matrix is not worse. The error is a function of the vertical plane being off, not the horizontal plane.

I intentionally canted my 380 the other night about 45 degrees in each direction at 30 yards. I could see no change whatsoever in POI. I was surprised. Not sure what the other post means about a vertical canting issue??? The scope?

I used scope mounted anti-cant level for years on my Varizone. When I switched to a Hawke scope this year there is no room for a scope mounted level and I miss it. I am still trying to decide how I want to mount a new level.

This is what I used:

when leveling a scope vs the crossbow... would leveling the bow by placing a level on the string get the bow itself correctly leveled...or would there be something i'm missing there on that?

I prefer to put the level on the deck of the main frame.

I read on the forum that someone used a string/line level and used a razor knife to trim off the excess plastic and two sided tape to stick it on the xbow, this i did and mounted it were i can see it with my left eye while my right eye is lined up with the scope. the part that gets the scope aligned to the bow i did by hanging a weighted line and setting the bow up perfectly level and sighting through the scope comparing the scopes vertical line to the hanging string. rf

X2- I like the Excalibur bubble or the cir-cut bubble. I've got mine on the left side of the deck as I'm a righty. Simple stick on, easy, quick acquisition and no problems after thousands of arrows.

Put a Vortex scope bubble level on my scope. Works great.
