Country Hills, at Ottawa and Fischer Hallman. Best of luck to you.
Blessings.
Where do you attend?

I'm proud of you Mon! I used to have the same fear when I was younger so I just avoided tree stands period. I did the same thing that you did. I just took my time and stayed calm. It wasn't long before I bought my first climber and really started killing a lot of bucks from above. Again, congratulations!!! BTW; "I've got a Mansion" .
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Way to go ! .....Truly "How Great Thou Art".....
It's funny because I just recently moved from a latter to
a ground blind and it's strange how close deer come to me now.
I thought I'd give it a try because you and others hunt from ground blinds and
it was the only way I could get a better shot in the little field I hunt.
I hope you have plenty of success in that stand!

Congrats Vix,
Even after this many years of hunting in treestands I still prefer to have my feet on terra-firma
I am still very slow going up even with my harness & climbing strap on.
Most times the tree I am in is shaking more than anything else & when it comes time to come down I am even more nervous
Good for you on getting up there where the view is much better.
Shoot Straight

The only thing that needs to be nervous - is the buck that's gonna walk below you. Nice vantage point there, looks good.
The more you sit in it, the more relaxed you will become. The movement of the trees still gets to me, and I imagine the tree falling over, and squirrels attacking, and termites eating the base, and lots of things. But.....only that buck needs to be nervous.

Ive hunted from ground blind, tripod, box blind, climber, hang on stand and ladder. The ladder is by far my favorite. You have a greater field of view. It took me a couple of times to get used to it too but now I would take it over any of the others.
My Exocet comes tomorrow and I will get to hunt with it for the first time this weekend. Im going to try stalking as well as stand hunting with it. I will let y'all know how it turns out. Wish me luck!
