First of all I have to thank Chris4570 for putting me onto this bird. He was out yesterday with the Excal and pinned this one's roost down, but had a fired up hen to contend with.
Woke up this morning at 3am to the sound of pounding rain, and went back to bed for another hour. At 4am the alarm sounded and I reluctantly got out of bed. I don't mind getting up early, but knowing that it is going to be a wet, miserable day is another thing

. I knew that there would not be too many hunters out today, so off I went.
Got set up by 5:15am and waited for day break. Dawn came with the crows and geese making all kinds of racket, but not a gobble to be heard. The birds were not maiking a peep, so I followed suit and just sat still.
At 6:10am I noticed something dark at the far edge of the field. A turkey

. I couldn't tell if it was a hen or gobbler due to the brush around my setup. But I got the gun up and waited. It was coming over to the dekes. I had a hen out with a jake past the hen and the jake was facing me. When the turkey finally came into view I could see his bright head and beard
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
. He came in so fast I didn't have time to swing the gun to the decoys, so I had to wait some more. He came in at full strut to the jake. He was side on so I was still pinned. He then proceeded to kick the living crap out of the jake decoy
![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)
. I still didn't dare swing the gun. Then he made his mistake. He put his head down behind the hen decoy to peck the fallen solider and when he came back up I had the sight on him at 12 yards. He turned to look at the hen and the Winchester roared again. It was 6:20am.
Henreita took a few grazing pellets to the back, but she will still be okay for another season or two

. The jake decoy was a bit embarassed but otherwise no worse for wear.
That brings my season to an end. It sure is nice to get it done quick before the heat and mosquitos get too bad. He looks a bit ragged due to the weather and he broke his wing while flopping around.
