cell phone mounted on a bow
Hi Guys,
has anyone tried mounting their cell phone on their bow to take video of the last few minutes of a hunt? I know there are mounts for video cams. Can these be ordinary cameras or do they have to be particularly shock resistant? I'm thinking of the effect recoil may have on them,
cheers,
David

Get yourself one of those "keychain spy cameras" off Ebay.
I got one a few weeks ago and it's amazing. Come springtime I'm going to tape it to an arrow, shoot it straight up in the air and get some intersting aerial views.
Under $10 (you'll need a mini SD card too) but they take amazing video quality for the price. Small enough to tape pretty much anywhere on your bow or crossbow, cheap enough so you don't need to worry about damaging them, and they can take up to an hour or more of video depending on the size of your memory card.I got one a few weeks ago and it's amazing. Re: cell phone mounted on a bow
I just bought one of the Spy mini cams, as suggested by Stash. $18 for it and the 4Gig memory card. It looks very promising, thanks Stash. It takes amazingly good video and is easy to use, once you get a good translation of the Chinese instructions I've put together my own instructions in a Microsoft Word document and will gladly email a copy to anyone interested. I'm planning on making a mount for it that will fit where the quiver usually goes. I used to always take the quiver off my vertical bow when hunting and plan to do the same with my new Ibex (which yes, I already love!!). I hope to post a video soon on YouTube, showing how this arrangement works, just a matter of finding the time. You guys are the best,
cheers,
David

Re: cell phone mounted on a bow
STASH which camera did you buy ? lots of them on e-bay. thanks HAWK
Re: cell phone mounted on a bow
I know the question was directed at Stash, so I hope I'm not stepping on toes.
The camera I bought, which I believe is the same as Stash's camera, is the DVK 808 Mini spy camera.
Here is the translation of the Chinese instructions:
1. Hold the on/off button down until the orange indicator light comes on. The camera is now in standby mode and will stay that way for 30 seconds and then it will turn itself off.
2. Hold down the video/camera button until the light flashes three times, the camera is now recording video.
3. To stop recording tap the video/camera button, the unit will go back into standby mode and the light will stay on.
4. If the video/camera button is now tapped the camera will take a still photo.
5. If the video/camera button is held down the lights will flash again and the camera will go back to taking video.
6. After step 5, tap the video/camera button and the camera will go back to standby mode.
7. Hold the on/off button down and the camera will turn off.

You can simply plug it into a USB port with the included cable and your computer should recognize it as an external storage device. You can play vids/pics directly off the micro SD card, or drag or copy/paste the files onto your hard drive.one shot scott wrote:How hard is it to download to the 'puter?
Or you can put the micro card into an adaptor and then directly into an SD slot, or into a card reader and plug that into the USB port and do the same thing.
