Grub?
Over the years I've picked or shot a lot of good wild grub. Most of it I've shot, picked, caught myself, or had a couple of buddies give me a sample pack. Elk, turtle, eland, frog, rattlesnake, mushrooms, ramps, snail etc.
The one item that has eluded me is the moose. It's on the top of my hunt list when I save enough up cash to try a hunt.
A lot of guys and gals I talk to say moose is probably the best wild game they have had.
What do you all think?

For my tastes moose is second to elk but a close second.

I love it myself, but I have to say, when we go to the Pow Wow on the reserve, I love the way they prepare bison! I would definitely recommend putting on you're bucket list!

Depending on how it was treated and prepared . They all are good . I have had bad tasting meat as well as good . Some of the memorable meals were caribou , elk , bison , venison (of course) and bear .

I read something somewhere to the effect that someone took a grain fed beef, shot it out in the woods, gutted it, drug it 3/4 of a mile out of the woods, rode it around town in the back of their truck for half the day before finally taking it to the processor. Everyone agreed that it tasted just like deer.Doe Master wrote:Depending on how it was treated and prepared . They all are good . I have had bad tasting meat as well as good.
The final taste of the meat is directly proportional to the amount of care taken in getting it from the woods to the freezer.
I've had moose once, and it was pretty good. It was a little tough, but it tasted good. One of these days, I'm going to go on a moose hunt, as well as some other critters.

Re: Grub?
There is always moose on or around our BBQ, and we love it.
One of the best steaks we have had was dropped off at our home by a member here, it was bear. We were pretty sceptical before it was cooked, but it turned out to be one of the most tender, tasty chunks of meat to grace our table.
I remember the wife looking across the table as our plates were cleared, she said "next year, your hunting bear, I'll pack the bags". Now that we have property in bear country, her wish will come true.

To be a vegetarian is to listen to the live carrot gradually screaming as it drowns in a pot of boiling water …. Which is more ethical to you ??
