Went with two of my sons this evening an was setting in my latter stand on the side of a hill surrounded by green briars an thickets. Made a couple soft bleats an grunts on my Wabi call an a few minutes later heard crashing an something coming my way.
Looked up an the buck was coming an looking an stopped 30yds broadside but in the briars an then he kept coming an gave me a clear 20yd broadside shot an I held for the heart an I made sure to watch his reaction as I shot . When I shot he reacted by kind of rolling on his Side an I hit 6 inches high . our deer do react an I had a Birdseye view of it . I seen the blood appear soon as the arrow hit an seen it was high but from my stand it came out in the middle of the ribs on the other side.
The 16 inch 400gr. BEA with a 125 Magnus stinger 4 blade done its job an I watched him fall 40yds away . when I went to check him out I looked up an my sons stand was 50yds up on the flat above where he was laying an he seen him fall . then he came down an said hold my bow an grabbed him a up thru the briars he went with me following him.
Glad to have a young strong son to help an he said boy this thing drags alot easier than the one I shot an I said that's why I don,t shoot big ones
Tried my wabi call on a nice buck yesterday evening and couldn't coax him quite close enough for a shot. He wasn't intimidated by a grunt, but he wasn't ready to whip an intruder either. I had him broadside at 40 yards, but I like them closer so I let him walk.
The call works great an I love it! for me some will come a running or sneak in an others not pay any attention at all but what a thrill when they do. an shooting with my loud crossbows the closer the better
