I own all 3 xbows. I've just completed a # of tests concerning speed. Arrows used weighed 397 & 353.4g. I also tested various strings weighing from 99.0g - 193g.
For this testing I used the lightest string (The DM string that comes on the BD400).
I also have a set of blemished limbs (103,103) that I tried on the M380 to see their difference form the stock limbs.
M380:
353.4g arrow - 375'/sec
399.0g arrow - 359'/sec
399.0g arrow - 366'/sec with blemish limbs(103 ea vs 98/98.5 factory. So, the blemish limbs shot 7'/sec faster than the original limbs.
BD400:
399.0g arrow - 369'/sec
M405 :
399.0g arrow - 366'/sec with Air Brakes & DB limb silencers (on as instructed)
399.0g arrow - 373'/sec with ABs removed
399.0g arrow -375'/sec with DB limb savers also removed.
Did not yet try the hotter, blemished limbs on the 400 or 405.
Summary, with bows set up the same w/o any speed affecting add ons, the M405 was 6'/sec faster than the BD400 which was 10'/sec faster than the M380.
Findings: Of course the speed differences of the bows, string weight makes a huge difference, Air Brakes affected my speeds 7'/sec, the M405 is 6'/sec faster than the BD 400. Limbs make a large difference in velocities.

How about a review on the 400 vs. 405? Wondering what the other differences are beside just the speed.
thanks.
thanks.

They're all very close speedwise. The 405 seems to have the most brute force.

I'm doing this very soon. Actually, the BD400 vs the M380/405. I wanted to do it just prior to likely higher purchase time for the upcoming hunting season. I do think there is one overall winner.bigrak wrote:How about a review on the 400 vs. 405? Wondering what the other differences are beside just the speed.
